Ultimate Body Press Ceiling Mounted Pull Up Bar

Ultimate Body Press Ceiling Mounted Pull Up Bar

A recent addition to my home gym area (garage), the Ultimate Body Press ceiling mounted pull up bar installed relatively easy. It takes a little time getting it exactly where you want it.
As an addition to my home gym, I decided to purchase a pull-up bar.

I researched numerous bars for quality, price, and functionality. Ultimately, I chose the Ultimate Body Press Ceiling Mounted Pull Up Bar based on the reviews. After using the bar for last year, I have the following analysis.

Performance

Still working as expected and using it almost daily now - UPDATE - 2020.02.20

There are two options with a 16” on-center or 24” on-center. These are the two most common spans between studs.

Ceiling Pull Up Bar Installation

I was able to mount the ceiling pull up bar to the ceiling using a crescent wrench and a little bit of WD 40 to lubricate the lag bolts. The total time was approximately 45 minutes. This is an estimate as the actual time was probably longer, but that was mostly from the measuring to get it exactly where I wanted it.

The steel powder coated bars come with a foam wrap. This wrap is moderately durable. I suspect the foam could wear with heavy use and might have a longer life-space if wrapped with additional tape. It is comfortable as delivered.

There are three different grip positions with the center position providing a slight variation in width options being a close-in or a little wider. The parallel grips are 20″ apart. The lower bar measures 16 5/8″ down from the ceiling.

Caution

To assist in doing pull-ups, I ordered some ab-straps, which turned out to be junk. When I placed the strap over the foam, a section ripped a bit. If you plan on using these, devise a strategy to protect the foam wrap.

Good For:

The bar is suitable for anybody who can do pull-ups and wants a variety of hand locations.

Here is a great item to add to your personal gym, if money is less of a concern, Bowflex Xtreme 2SE.

8.8 Total Score
A good option for your gym.

There are only a few minor knocks on this product. The install takes a little planning. All things considered, this has performed as advertised.
